Coverage of the Month – Non-Owned Auto Liability
Presented by Paula Wilson Brown Knoll
This coverage comes into play with business accounts. Non-Owned Auto Liability coverage protects you if you are being sued for an auto accident on a vehicle not owned by the business but is being used for business purposes.
Example, ABC Contractor is building a deck and runs out of nails so the owner sends Joe, his employee, to Lowe’s to get more nails . If the employee drives his personal auto and gets into an accident on the way to Lowe’s (doing work for ABC Contractor) then the business may be responsible for the damages. These damages would be covered under Non-Owned Auto Liability.
